Welcome to the Broward Chapter

Dear Hoteliers, Restaurateurs and Hospitality Partners,

It is my honor to serve as your 2013 Chapter President for the Broward Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. Although I may be new to this position, I am no stranger to FRLA having served the FRLA Monroe Board of Directors for the past five years and as their President from 2009-2012. Additionally, I was recently elected to serve as a member of FRLA’s state Executive Committee for 2013.  I look forward to representing all members both locally and on the state level.

The Broward Chapter has developed a very dynamic 31 member Board of Directors whom worked diligently on defining the key initiatives most important to our businesses. To that end, our 2013 goals focus upon the following:

Expand FRLA’s brand and influence

Enhance FRLA’s brand communications

Strengthen the value of being a FRLA member

With your continued support, the Broward Chapter has been very successful.  It is our plan is to build upon this momentum in 2013.

Please feel free to contact Lynne Hernandez, FRLA’s South Florida Regional Director at 305.598.3752 or Lhernandez@frla.org to sign up for a committee, or learn more about membership with the FRLA.

Welcome to the Broward Chapter!

Dear Colleagues,

I am honoured to serve as your 2015 Chapter President for the Broward Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. I am proud to represent one of the most dynamic FRLA chapters across the state and am working diligently to continue to build upon our successes in Broward to ensure we meet the state-wide goals and objectives of Florida's premiere hospitality association. I look forward to representing all members in Broward County to keep our industry strong.

The Broward Chapter has a dynamic Board of Directors whom worked diligently on defining the key initiatives most important to our businesses. To that end, our 2015 goals focus upon the following:

  • Expand FRLA's brand and influence
  • Enhance FRLA's brand communications
  • Strengthen the value of FRLA membership
  • Grow our membership base

We have set out an ambitious plan for 2015, which will support the present staff, managers and owners in our industry, as well as mentor, assist and guide the ranks of students pursuing a hospitality career.

We have several very important and active committees, without whom we could not accomplish as much as we do. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to get involved and build relationships. Please take a moment to review and consider taking a role in your local chapter. Take a look at our committee sign up form and let us know where you want to help.

We are finalizing our 2015 schedule of events and I promise it will have something for everyone! For our Allied friends, you may make a presentation at one of our chapter meetings for $250. This is a great way to promote your business to top decision makers. Please call Anne for more information.

Our 6th Annual Excellence in Education Gala will be held April 8, 2015, at the fabulous Diplomat Hotel. We will award our School of the Year, ProStart Instructor of the Year, Hospitality Tourism Management Program Instructor of the Year and announce our 2015 Scholarship Winners. We are working on some stunning surprises to this event with Miss Kimmy from Hits 97.3, Keynote Speaker Broward School Superintendent Robert Runcie and a fabulous silent auction! Last year was a sell-out so I encourage you to sign up NOW! The registration is available on our Events Page. Please remember that a portion of the proceeds support hospitality and culinary education programs in local high schools and colleges.

Lastly, I would like to acknowledge our Chairman and 2013-2014 Past Chapter President Kevin Speidel for his two years of outstanding leadership! I look forward to seeing you all soon at one of our many upcoming activities or at a committee meeting.

Please join us as we work to promote, protect and educate our hospitality community and our future staff, managers and owners! With your continued support, the Broward Chapter has been very successful. It is our plan is to build upon this momentum in 2015.

Sincerely,

Eduardo Fernandez
