Lodging Management Program

LMP_LogoFRLA is the only organization in Florida that offers the Lodging Management Program (LMP) and Skills, Tasks and Results Training (S.T.A.R.T.) program curriculums.  These curriculums were designed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute to teach, test, and award industry-recognized certificates to students meeting high academic standards in hospitality education.  The LMP & START programs were developed to increase the quality and employability of today’s high school graduates by providing them with training related to important job skills as well as opportunities for careers and higher education.  The FRALEF currently service 19 schools throughout the state with approximately 2,500 students.

The LMP and START programs introduce high school juniors and seniors to careers in lodging and teaches them basic skills and knowledge they need for success in the hospitality industry.  This is accomplished through on-the-job training and experience, coupled with a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum.

High School Programs
The Lodging Management Program (LMP) is an advanced, high school curriculum that immerses the student into the world of hospitality. This two year program will introduce students to the lodging industry and teach them the management principles that will enable them to achieve success in a hospitality leadership role. Completing this program will open many doors of opportunity and set the students on an exciting career path. The program includes a internationally recognized certification, creating especially for the LMP curriculum.

Workforce Development
The START (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training) program is a 180 hour curriculum intended to provide students an overview of the lodging industry, followed by a in-depth look at the most common line-level positions at most hotels. Upon completion of this program, the student is ready to perform the acquired skills on the job. This course includes an internationally recognized line-level certification of the student's choice, once the work requirement has been met.

The lodging industry is experiencing tremendous growth and is expected to continue growing rapidly.  The skills and training that students will gain through the LMP and START programs will enable them to capitalize on these opportunities.  Please call Laura Rumer, Director FRLAEF, 321-689-7192 for more information.
